LEGEND SAYS
He and his brother, Atsumu were born in a pack of fox spirit family. Their grandmother gave the names to both of them. During their early childhood days, they lived a relatively happy lives. Living in peace and undisturbed, together with their loved ones.
But a fateful day changed all of that as it ripped a big chunk of page from his' and his twin's life.
Their parents were murdered by humans. The mortals asked for a shaman's favor to get rid of the beast's family, not knowing the shaman actually works with an inugami (dog spirit). Inugami are famous for using enchantments and some can use black magic. Kitsunes are afraid of dogs in general and the perpetrators used that to their advantage. After they managed to weaken both of them, they drove a metal spike made out of iron into their heart to kill their mother and father.
Despite the incident that occured in their lives, Osamu grew up as a loving fox spirit, learning from his mother, prefers the idea of humans and spirits being able to live in co-existence, even though they are different beings. That it's just a matter of time for them to accept not all of yokai are dangerous, beastly beings.
HIS PURPOSE
He strongly holds on to his belief that it's just a matter of time for mortals to accept them. He has his belief that each conflict with humans must be resolved in a pacifist way, in hopes that the mortals will open their eyes and realize that yōkais are not mere savages. Each time Atsumu messes with humans, Osamu will be the one who takes care and cleans his dirty work.Hence why after he has come of age, he decides to enter a shrine and and works hard to become a shrine guardian. Someone who pledges his live to protect and proves that he, someone who mortals once detested, is still here to guard and defend them.
TRIVIA
Miya (宮) means shrine, meanwhile Osamu (治) means to rule and to govern. Also when it's written with this kanji, his first name has the meaning of healing.
Shape-shifting ➢ Like any other fox spirit in general, Osamu is able to perform into anything he wants. Either that a human male or female, he has the free reign to do so. As long as there are no dogs around, he'd be able to keep his appearance.
Foxfire ➢ Osamu can harness the power of flames to his whims as well. Unlike Atsumu however, his flames are colored blue (perhaps due to his ties to the shrine and how he has developed into a zenko.) and has healing purposes, in accordance to the meaning of his name.
Flight ➢ He can use the power of flying as well, but only for a short time as it consumes a lot of his power and he prefers not to do so and rather saves his own energy.
Purification ➢ Ever since he becomes a part of the shrine, Osamu has learnt the ability to purify negative energy. Commonly he uses enchantment papers or items (such as salt), but if the energy concentration are too massive to be handled then he can use his foxfire in his arsenal.
